Online MBA: One-Year
The UF MBA Online One-Year program is one of the quickest ways you can earn your MBA. UF is one of a few select programs in the world offering such an option—one that is AACSB accredited and awards a diploma equivalent to on campus programs.
With your business undergraduate degree (earned within the last 7 years) and a foundations review provided as part of our program, you will be able to delve into higher-level MBA classes sooner in our accelerated program option. The Online One-Year program is 32 credits versus the 48 credits in our two year programs. We recognize that you completed the core business courses during your undergraduate experience, and are therefore not requiring them to be repeated. Classes such as:
- Managerial and Financial Accounting
- Micro and Macroeconomics
- Principles of Marketing
- Principles of Management
- Operations & Supply Chain Management
Course titles don’t have to match these exactly, but the content has to be similar. The admissions team will evaluate your transcripts to ensure your eligibility for the program, but we recommend you review our eligibility checklist to assess your candidacy.
If you have another graduate degree in business or a business minor, we recommend also reviewing the checklist. There is a possibility you have completed all the coursework necessary for this accelerated option.
Please note that you must have earned the business degree or minor within the last seven years to qualify for this program. Also, professional experience cannot be substituted for the required prerequisites.
Orientation and Class Weekend Structure
While the majority of your coursework is completed online, we do host weekend residencies every four months and a mandatory on-campus orientation for all students on our Gainesville campus. Online lectures are asynchronous, allowing you to view them at your own convenience and schedule.
The program operates on a lock-step, cohort based system. You start with a group of classmates and go through terms one through five with this same group of classmates, allowing you to build strong relationships and a powerful network that will last far beyond graduation. To facilitate your relationship and network building opportunities, we regularly host local social events allowing you to interact with other MBA cohorts.
The quarterly class weekends are comprised of a Saturday and Sunday, and are a great opportunity to reconnect with faculty and classmates in person. Saturday will likely include final exams or presentations, and Sunday you will meet your new faculty members and begin your next term. This offers you the best of both worlds – an extremely flexible class format that still provides live interaction and connections with classmates, faculty and the university.
Orientation is mandatory. Please review class dates for the orientation schedule. Additionally, for our one-year options, a one week review course is conducted following orientation. Foundations Review is a mandatory review of core business concepts and is a requirement prior to beginning the 32 credit accelerated program. Please note that Foundations Review is not required for concurrent OEM/MBA students.
MBA/OEM Concurrent Degree
Students who enroll in the Outreach Engineering Management Program (OEM) in the University of Florida's Herbert Wertheim College of Engineering are able to obtain an engineering Master's degree in 20 months while working full-time and are then eligible to apply for the Online One-Year MBA program. Our innovative OEM/I1MBA concurrent degree option reduces the amount of time and coursework required for students to obtain both the MBA and the OEM degree from UF
Students in the Online One-Year program can choose from one of four areas of focus. This allows students to take a deeper dive into an area that interests them. The four areas of focus are:
Starting in Term 6, Online One-Year students are able to select four electives in a specific area to gain a focus within their MBA coursework. Students also choose the format in which they take these courses. The format options are:
