Available Aid Programs
Students in professional MBA programs are eligible for Federal Direct Stafford loans and Federal Direct Grad Plus loans. Financial aid forms and literature will be sent to each student who is admitted to one of the programs.
Federal Direct Subsidized Stafford Loan
These loans are awarded based on financial need with the maximum being $8,500 per year. There is no interest or repayment as long as the student is at least a half-time student. Repayment of principal and interest begins six months after the student ceases at least half-time enrollment. The interest rate is 6.8%.
Federal Direct Unsubsidized Stafford Loan
These loans are awarded without regard to financial need and can range up to $20,500.00 per year. The actual amount cannot exceed the estimated cost of attendance less other aid, including any Subsidized Stafford Loans. Interest does accrue on these loans while in school but repayment of principal begins six months after the student ceases at least half-time attendance. The interest rate is 6.8%.
Students who wish to use a portion of their need-based eligibility for work may request a Federal Work-Study award from SFA. For a non-need based employment award, students may request an OPS (a non-need based) state-funded work program.
All forms of income must be reported to the financial aid office, including fellowships, fee waivers, company tuition reimbursements and outside private scholarships, since this is factored in when determining the amount of money awarded.
Federal Direct Graduate Plus Loan
These loans allow graduate and professional students to borrow up to the cost of attendance minus other financial aid. There are no aggregate loan limits. The program has a fixed interest rate of 7.9% and 94% origination fee is charged at disbursement. Unless deferred, repayment begins 60 days after the loan is fully disbursed.

A limited number of Florida MBA fellowships are awarded to top candidates. U.S. citizens and permanent residents who have been admitted to the Traditional MBA curriculum are eligible for these competitive, merit-based fellowships. Selection is based on superior academic ability, professional achievement and leadership potential. Candidates should submit their application for admission no later than March 15 for automatic consideration.
Assistantships
A limited number of assistantships are available to highly qualified MBA students in the last year of the full-time in-residence programs. In the past, assistantships have been awarded for students to work ten hours per week in one of the academic departments as a research or teaching assistant or in the Florida MBA Programs Office as a graduate assistant. Students apply for these assistantships during the first year of the program.
